Two Birds Brewing are the official brewing partners of the St Ives Medieval Faire 2017.
The Tilt & Counter Tavern at this year’s St Ives Medieval Faire is shaping up as the place to be – with authentic Middle Ages cuisine on the menu and refreshing brews on tap, all situated right next to the excitement of the jousting arena.
Each year at the Faire, a brewery is brought in to stock suitably historic beverages as the event’s official brewing partner.
This year Two Birds Brewing, from Spotswood in Victoria fill that role, bringing their award-winning skills to the tavern.
Founded by friends Jayne Lewis and Danielle Allen in 2011, Two Birds is Australia’s first all-female-owned brewing company.
With a Bachelor of Science in Viticulture and Winemaking, and a Diploma in Brewing, Lewis has worked as a brewer at Little Creatures, Mountain Goat Brewery, along with working at wineries in both Australia and the US.
Allen has worked in marketing roles for global kitchenware brands, as well as for the liquor industry and supermarkets.
“Two Birds Brewing are delighted to be working with Ku-ring-gai Council on the St Ives Medieval Faire,” said Allen. “And we’re looking forward to serving up our special, limited release medieval-inspired lager to the thirsty crowds in an authentic setting.”
Two Birds’ limited edition brew for the Faire – Birds of Prey – will be available exclusively at the Faire.
Birds of Prey is a Märzen, a German style beer which would have been popular during the Middle Ages but has a decidedly modern flair.
Along with Birds of Prey, the Tavern will also offer Two Birds’ signature Pale Ale, Sunset (amber) Ale, and Golden Ale.
The Tavern will also be pouring Stonedog Mead, from Yarra in NSW, along with Adelaide’s Hills Cider.
