The Pike & Musket Society (The Routiers)

The Pike and Musket Society is an historical reenactment and living history organisation whose main focus is reenacting the life and times of mid-17th Century Europe, with a particular emphasis on the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) and the English Civil War (1642-1651). They are an Australia-wide group, mainly with members and activities in or near Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Within their authentic ‘Routier’ (mercenary) encampment of the Thirty Years War, pikemen, musketeers and camp followers will work on their weapons and armour, cook food, make and mend their clothing and equipment, play games and meet and greet visitors to discuss their activities. Twice per day, the soldiers will gather to practice battle formations and musket firing.
